Listed as one of the 8 UNESCO- World Heritage Sites, Chitwan National Park is Nepal first and the most famous national park. Chitwan National park is well known for the number of activities it offers to the travelers.

Best Time to for the Safari?
The best time to do the Chitwan Jungle Safari is from October through February, when the temperature averages to 25 degrees Celsius. The months of March, April and June can be extremely hot, while July-September is the monsoon season when rivers swell and parts of the park are inaccessible.

What you will observe?
Chitwan National Park is the home to over 566 species of birds, wild elephant, wild boar, monkey, leopard, dear and crocodile including a number of endangered species of birds, mammals and reptiles such as One-horned rhinoceros, Royal Bengal tiger and many more.

Detail Itinerary - Chitwan Jungle Safari

Day 1

Drive from Kathmandu or Pokhara to Chitwan

This first day of jungle safari in Chitwan starts after your breakfast with a drive of 4 hours 30 minutes to Chitwan from Kathmandu or Pokhara. The drive is pleasant filled with beautiful scenery. The private vehicle will stop for lunch whenever you ask the driver to stop. You can also ask the driver to stop the vehicle if you feel like clicking pictures on the way.

You will be dropped off at you hotel in Chitwan where you will handed the full schedule of your safari on arrival and from this point onwards your exciting activities begins.

NOTE: You can also take a tourist bus from Kathmandu or Pokhara.

06:30 am - The tourist buses depart at 7:00 am. Tourist Bus from Kathmandu or Pokhara. You most arrive at tourist bus station to get bus down to Chitwan. If from Kathmandu Tourist Bus departs near from Kantipath which is just 10 mins walk from Thamel and Tourist bus station from Pokhara departs from the Tourist Bus station. Due to road constructions on the highway it might take a bit longer time to reach Chitwan than the time mentioned above.

01:00 pm - arrival at tourist Bus station. You will be welcomed by jeep at the bus station that will drop you off to the Resort, welcome drinks for refresh after bus journey and sift to the room.

01.30 pm – Lunch will be provided in the hotel.

04:00 pm - Village tour in Chitwan - you will visit nearby ethnic Tharu village where you will learn more about the lifestyle of the Tharu people residing in Chitwan. You will also visit Government Elephant Stable where you will learn about daily activities of elephants, on the way to Elephant stable you will visit Visitor’s centre from Chitwan National park where you can learn more about the history of the National Park and about wildlife & Sun set view from the bank of the Rapti River.

07:00 pm - Cultural Dance - Tharu cultural dance presentation by the local people from Sauraha village. At the last part of the show if you want you can also join to dance with cultural dancer group.

Day 2

Chitwan Jungle Safari

This day is the highlight of jungle safari in Chitwan, filled with fun activities. This is a day just to enjoy. A rough itinerary is mentioned below:

6:30 am - Breakfast

7:00 am - Canoeing, jungle walk and visit Elephant breeding Centre. During your canoeing it is an excellent opportunity for Bird Watching and for seeing the 2 rare species of crocodiles, the Marsh Mugger and the fish eating Gharial. After canoeing you will walk in the forest during jungle walk you will get opportunities to see many kinds of wild animals and plants. After the Jungle walk you will Visit the Government Elephant Breeding Centre. At the breeding centre you will see many baby elephants. It will be a moment filled with innocence and cuteness of the baby elephants.

10.45am - Elephant Bath. It is one of the best activities in Chitwan. You are allowed to wash and touch the elephant and take shower in the river. (Seasonal only)

12:00 noon - Lunch

3:00 pm - Elephant safari.
An excellent opportunity to see four different kinds of deer, rhinoceros, wild boar, monkeys, leopard, sloth bear and the Royal Bengal Tiger. You will also encounter many other smaller mammals.

7:00pm - Nepali special Dinner.

Day 3

Depart from Chitwan

This is a day to bid farewell to the beautiful jungle and the animals.

8:00 am - Breakfast.

9:00 am - Departure for onward journey.

The actual itinerary will be given to you on arrival at Hotel. The activities are adjusted to the season and weather conditions. It may not always be possible to follow this schedule; hence according to circumstances the schedule may be altered.

On safari in the jungle you will be accompanied by expert naturalists who will advise on safety procedures and we request you to respect their judgment at all times.

If you wish to stroll in the forest alone, a guide will have to accompany you for your safety



What to Bring?

Being a forest area you are advised to bring a few dark coloured clothes for jungle activities, otherwise you can dress the way you want according to the weather.
